Federal B Area (also known as F.B. Area) is one of Karachi’s oldest and most iconic residential localities. Developed soon after the independence of Pakistan, it was originally planned to accommodate federal government employees. Its early purpose gave the area its name — Federal Capital Area — which later evolved into what is now widely known as Federal B Area. Although it was renamed “Gulberg Karachi” during the tenure of former President and Army Chief Pervez Musharraf, the original name remains widely used and recognized across the city.

Centrally Located with Excellent Connectivity

Federal B Area enjoys a strategic location in the heart of Karachi, surrounded by prominent neighborhoods such as Liaquatabad, Buffer Zone, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Nazimabad, and PIB Colony. Major thoroughfares like Shahrah-e-Pakistan and Shahrah-e-Jahangir pass through the area, ensuring smooth connectivity to key parts of the city. The Lyari Expressway runs along its eastern side, further enhancing accessibility for daily commuters.

Block-Wise Planning & Organized Development

One of the unique aspects of Federal B Area is its block-wise structure. The entire locality is divided into numerically labeled blocks such as Block 4, Block 7, Block 9, Block 10, and so on. This organized layout makes it easier to navigate and contributes to better urban planning. Within these blocks, you’ll find well-paved roads, well-maintained parks, schools, mosques, and local markets — all contributing to a self-sufficient and vibrant community.

Lively Commercial Pockets & Key Roads

Federal B Area is home to several busy commercial zones and famous roads. Areas such as Azizabad Main Road, Hussainabad, Samanabad Road, Dastagir, and Josh Malih Abadi Road are well known for their bustling marketplaces, eateries, clinics, and retail shops. These streets not only serve residents but also attract visitors from surrounding localities due to their dynamic commercial activity.

Modern Infrastructure & Livability

Over the years, Federal B Area has continued to evolve, blending its historical roots with modern development. The area offers all basic amenities such as electricity, gas, water, sanitation, internet, and reliable public transportation. It is densely populated — not just due to its central location, but also because of its livability, affordability, and accessibility.
